In 2019, The International Society of Service Innovation Professionals (ISSIP), International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), and The Center for Business Analytics (CBA) collaborated to promote and disseminate research and applications among academicians and professionals interested in theory, methodologies and applications in major understanding of intelligent service systems. The awards encourage a culture shift for scholars and professionals to come together in order to greater progress in these fields.

As a result of this collaboration the “Move the Field Forward Best Paper Award” was given at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). It recognized exceptional research methods displayed by students and professionals within areas such as artificial intelligence, intelligence augmentation, collaborative intelligence, cognitive, wisdom, cloud & fog computing, business analytics, big data, and the internet of things.

Nominations were collected by December 15, 2018, 24:00 PST for the HICSS 2019 Conference. The top 5 research papers (out of 28 nominations) received certificates and awards at the HICSS Celebration of the 52nd year award ceremony.

On the 52nd anniversary of the HICSS awards, Milgard School of Business faculty had the pleasure to witness exceptional groups of students and professionals displaying their abilities to innovate and explore new perspectives of evolving intelligent service systems. The ideas that have been put forth by these groups are ones that will aid the field of intelligent service systems moving forward. The Center of Business Analytics is excited to participate in the next award ceremony, where we hope to see new groups of individuals display their research excellence and encourage innovation in the field of smart service systems.
