The study, “Acculturation and alcohol use among Asian Americans: A meta-analytic review,” is the first comprehensive quantitative review of this research area. Despite that psychological literatures have highlighted the importance of considering acculturation as a determinant of health outcomes, our meta-analyses show that how much Asian Americans adhere to the mainstream U.S. or Asian cultures is minimally linked to their alcohol use behaviors and drinking-related problems.
