A new study from ADAPT examined published and unpublished research on racial, LGBTQ, health status/disability, and gender microaggressions. Results showed that racial, LGBTQ, and health status microaggression experiences were associated with poor adjustment outcomes, and these associations were stronger among racial minorities, and when the discrimination incidents occurred at the interpersonal level. This study is the first that critically reviewed the existing literature on microaggression, and discussed the future directions to better conceptualize, measure, and study this phenomenon.
