Dr. Lui has just published a new study on the psychometric properties of a measure on college alcohol beliefs. She found that using the College Life Alcohol Salience Scale, there are minimal differences in the structure and patterns in these beliefs across gender, years in college, and residence. Students across ethnic groups and Greek affiliations, however, differ in the degree to which they endorse some specific beliefs about how important alcohol is to their overall college experience. This scale may be useful in screening for at-risk populations to prevent and address hazardous alcohol use on college campuses. This paper appears in the Journal of Counseling Psychology.
