We are a group of researchers based at the University of Washington – Applied Physics Laboratory (UW-APL), located in Seattle, Washington, USA. We study phytoplankton communities in marine environments, with a focus on the use of optical proxies and imaging-in-flow cytometry data. We use ship-based measurements, laboratory analyses, and satellite remote-sensing data in our work, and we regularly use data science tools including machine learning, cloud computing, and open-source data processing workflows.
