- Aminocaproic acid 5gm/20mL (injectable or oral liquid)
- Directions
- Add 5gm/20mL of aminocaproic acid to 80mL Formula #2 Mouthwash and mix well
- Label appropriately
- Expires in 14 days
- Instructions for patients
- Hold 10mL in mouth for 2 minutes, 1/2 hr before dental procedure and then spit out. After procedure, repeat every 2 hours for 6-10 doses until bleeding resolves. May continue as needed.
Instructions for Compounding Base Solution for ACA Mouth Rinse
- Components (makes 12 x 80mL)
- Polysorbate 20 10mL
- Spearmint oil 2.5mL
- Ethanol 95% 100mL
- Sod. saccharin 1gm
- Sod. benzoate 2gm
- Sorbital 70% 100mL
- Sterile water qs 1000mL (all USP)
- Instructions
- Add the spearmint oil to the polysorbate 20
- Add the ethanol and mix well
- Add the sod. saccharin and sod. benzoate to about 600mL of sterile water
- Add the sorbital to the water solution
- Add the ethanol solution to the water solution and mix will
- QS with water to 1000mL
- Pour 80mL of base into 4oz RX bottles and label
- Expiration
- Base solution: 6 months
