CEE Ugrad Weekly: Advising over Winter Break | Additional Science Requirement | Additional Writing Credits | Refresh Your Audit!

CEE Undergraduate Weekly (11.19.2021)

Hello,

Now that most of you are registered for WIN22, we wanted provide some advising updates and address a few common questions we’ve received over the last week:

1. CEE Advising over Thanksgiving & Winter Break

  • Thanksgiving Week (11/22-11/24): Drop-in hours will only be held on Tuesday, 11/23 from 11am-12pm. Drop-ins on Wed, 11/24 have been cancelled.
  • AUT21 Finals Week and Winter Break: Your CEE Advisers will be available on a limited basis over finals week and winter break. Refer to our CEE Advising page to see our updated calendar appointment slots and drop-in advising hours (these will be updated regularly).
  • As always, if you do not see a time that works with your availability or timeline, please email ceadvice@uw.edu with your weekly availably and a summary of what you’d like to discuss.

2. Refresh and check your degree audit to ensure that your WIN22 courses are populating correctly.

3. Additional Writing Requirement

Information on how to satisfy your additional writing requirement can be found on our CEE Student News Blog here. If you are trying to create a “W by arrangement,” we recommend trying to contact an instructor prior to the beginning of the quarter (For WIN21, it would be a good idea to connect now).

 4. Additional Science Requirement

On your degree audit, you will see an additional science sub requirement list located under your Upper Division Engineering & Science Requirement.  When you take one of these courses, it will satisfy this sub requirement and the credits will apply to your UD E&S Electives. However, if you have taken a different science course (100, 200 or 300 level) from one of these departments (ESS, ESRM, BIOL, GEOG, OCEAN, etc.), you may be able to petition it to satisfy the additional science requirement and possibly the UD E&S Electives as well.  If you think this might apply to you, please send the course syllabus and description to ceadvice@uw.edu and we can take a look.
