NHERI REU Opportunity – Application due Feb 11th

Dear Undergraduates,

Are you interested in natural hazards and looking for a paid research internship? The Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) is hosting in-person Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in summer 2022.

NHERI is a network of 11 sites and experimental facilities that research to mitigate the impact of natural hazards focusing on earthquake, wind, tsunami, coastal engineering, data management, cyberinfrastructure, reconnaissance, and simulation.

As part of the NHERI REU Summer Program, the National Science Foundation (NSF) funds undergraduate students from various undergraduate degrees (engineering, architecture, sciences, computer science, etc.) to research for ten weeks at one NHERI site or experimental facility. This funding includes a $5000 research stipend, a $2300 travel award, and a housing subsidy (the amount varies based on location).

Attached is a flyer with more information. You may also visit the NHERI DesignSafe REU website (https://www.designsafe-ci.org/learning-center/reu/) for more information and a link to the application.

NHERI is committed to engaging a diverse cohort of REU students and encourages members of racial and ethnic underrepresented groups, females, and veterans to apply for this research experience.
