Reminder, CEE500 Seminar Today at 3:30

This week we will hear from another alumnus of our department, Dr. Haizhou Liu, associate professor in the department of chemical and environmental engineering at University of California, Riverside. Dr. Liu’s seminar will focus on the application of water chemistry principles to create fresh water supplies.

Abstract: 

Harnessing Water Chemistry to Address Complex Water Challenges for a Thirsty World 

Water scarcity has become a global crisis. This situation is exacerbated – and will continue to be so – by the global shrinkage of surface water sources. This seminar presentation will showcase research ideas focusing on the application of water chemistry principles to create clean and fresh water supplies, including municipal wastewater potable reuse, recycled water for agricultural irrigation, and metal corrosion control in drinking water pipes. Unique redox processes and photochemistry principles will be discussed during the seminar to highlight their applications in water engineering.  Continue reading →

REMINDER: Construction Career Expo – November 1st, 2022

The biggest construction job fair at UW will be held on November 1st, 2022 (next week Tuesday). It is open to CEE students and employers there expect to see LOTS of CEE students – more than CM students, in fact. If you are at all interested in construction, or would just like to work on your interviewing skills, please do not miss this career fair. There are more internships and jobs that come out of this career fair for our department than any other career fair (including our CEE career fair). I cannot emphasize this enough: this is the place to get internships and jobs in construction. (Did you know? 50% of all our department’s internships are in the construction field)

What: Construction Annual Career Expo

When: Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Where: HUB Ballroom

Graham Construction Information Session on Friday, 10/28 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. PIZZA!

Graham Construction is coming to our department to host an information session this Friday (after my CEE 307 class). They want to tell you about the internships and full-time positions they have available and what their construction engineers do. EVERYONE is invited. Kick off your weekend with free pizza and an internship opportunity!
