Students and Faculty,
This week we will hear from another alumnus of our department, Dr. Haizhou Liu, associate professor in the department of chemical and environmental engineering at University of California, Riverside. Dr. Liu’s seminar will focus on the application of water chemistry principles to create fresh water supplies.
When/where: Thursday (10/27), 3:30/ BAG 154 (Bagley Hall)/ and Zoom (link below)

Abstract:
Harnessing Water Chemistry to Address Complex Water Challenges for a Thirsty World
Water scarcity has become a global crisis. This situation is exacerbated – and will continue to be so – by the global shrinkage of surface water sources. This seminar presentation will showcase research ideas focusing on the application of water chemistry principles to create clean and fresh water supplies, including municipal wastewater potable reuse, recycled water for agricultural irrigation, and metal corrosion control in drinking water pipes. Unique redox processes and photochemistry principles will be discussed during the seminar to highlight their applications in water engineering. Continue reading
