Career & Internship Center – What’s New in Handshake?

Hello Students,

The Career & Internship Center wanted to share some resources with students to promote their new features for Handshake, UW’s career services platform:

  1. Webinars hosted by our center, including “How to Maximize Handshake”, most recent recording hyperlinked. We will have another webinar coming out in winter quarter.
  2. Handshake created a detailed resource for students about the Curated Employers feature: https://support.joinhandshake.com/hc/en-us/articles/9067686853015 [support.joinhandshake.com]
  3. Students also receive push notifications from Handshake about new product features such as Curated Employers and Video Chats, keeping students up-to-date with what the platform has to offer.

Call for Applications – Master’s in Marine Affairs

Dear Students,

School of Marine and Environmental Affairs – Now accepting applications!

The School of Marine & Environmental Affairs (SMEA) is a two-year, in-residence graduate program that leads to the Master of Marine Affairs degree from the University of Washington. The field is a multi-disciplinary field with strong traditions in both practice and scholarship, with SMEA graduates being uniquely qualified for various marine and environmental affairs related positions upon graduation. Our alumni go on to become policy makers, analysts, administrators, consultants, nonprofit managers, activists, and researchers.

Being an interdisciplinary program by nature, we value students from diverse educational backgrounds and majors, and thus encourage students from all disciplines to apply! Tool Training – Sign up in More, room 33

Tool training signup sheet is now on the door of room 33, in the basement of More Hall. Please note that there’s a limit of 25 people in each session, Sat. 10/8 at 11:30 and Sun 10/9 at 11:00.

Please sign up early to reserve your place.

There’ll be shop tool training (Tool Training 1, Class B) one session on Saturday

October 8th, at 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., another one on Sunday October 9th  at 11:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please check the signup sheet to find out which session you should attend.  Only twenty five people in each session.  Please note that there will be no tool training until spring 2023.

This tool training is required for the students and persons who will be or think that they might need to use power hand tools for their research projects.  The tools training covers the use of circular saw, table saw, drill motor etc. in and around structures lab.  Be sure to sign up before October, 4th.  Renewing is required every eight months. The signup sheet will be posted on the door room 33 (machine shop), across from the material lab, More Hall basement. Continue reading
