HDR $10k Water Scholarship and Paid Internship

Attention Students,

HDR established a scholarship program several years ago that focuses on graduate level students (or graduating undergraduates going to graduate school) interested in water related fields. The scholarship program includes (2) $10k scholarships and paid internships.

A few guidelines are:

  • Graduate student, or undergraduate degree by spring 2023 and planning on attending graduate school
  • Willing to accept an HDR internship
  • Applications due January 20th, 2023 and applicants are selected in February

Applicant priority is given to 5 schools, with UW being one of the priority schools. In the last few years two UW students have been selected, and I look forward to seeing another strong UW applicant pool!

SFMTA Summer Internship Program is Now Accepting Applications for Planner and Engineers

Calling aspiring transportation planners and engineers!

We are currently accepting applications for San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s (SFMTA) summer internship program through Monday, January 9, 2023. Gain valuable on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced transportation professionals. Interns will participate in transportation planning and engineering activities including:

  • Plan, design, and implement bicycle, pedestrian, safety, or complete streets projects
  • Transit planning for Muni, the City of San Francisco’s transit agency
  • Perform community outreach and engagement
  • Attend field trips and seminars to learn about various teams within the agency

Tunista Construction, LLC Internship Opportunity – Flexible Hours, Starting Soon

I am reaching out on behalf of Tunista Construction, LLC about an internship opportunity for a motivated student interested in gaining hands on experience and career opportunities in the Civil Engineering or Construction Management fields.

As a former student and graduate of the CEE program at the University of Washington, I am excited to offer an internship opportunity at the Rainier Beach High School Replacement Project in Seattle. Tunista Construction broke ground in September and is partnering with the owner and general contractor for the Civil Package on this multi-phase project including all Earthwork, TESC, Utility Installations, and MEP and Structural Excavations.

The project is a short commute from the UW Seattle campus and offers flexible work hours, 20+ hours per week, through the school year based on academic needs of the student. Jobsite hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm. Interns will need to provide their own transportation and safety toed work boots. Continue reading →

REMINDER: Construction Career Expo – November 1st, 2022

The biggest construction job fair at UW will be held on November 1st, 2022 (next week Tuesday). It is open to CEE students and employers there expect to see LOTS of CEE students – more than CM students, in fact. If you are at all interested in construction, or would just like to work on your interviewing skills, please do not miss this career fair. There are more internships and jobs that come out of this career fair for our department than any other career fair (including our CEE career fair). I cannot emphasize this enough: this is the place to get internships and jobs in construction. (Did you know? 50% of all our department’s internships are in the construction field)
