CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIPS: Beavers and Clark Construction Group Scholarships

Hi all,

Hope the first couple of weeks of class are going well for you! I am writing to let everyone know that there is a great scholarship opportunity for students interested in and involved with construction engineering. There are scholarships from the Beavers Charitable Trust [thebeavers.org] and the Clark Construction Group [clarkconstruction.com]. The awards will be TWO $5,000 cash scholarships from the Beavers and TWO $2,500 cash scholarships from Clark. Awards will be given in November. Here are the application particulars:

REQUIREMENTS

  • The applicant must have completed an internship (or have an ongoing one) with a construction company. This is the big requirement – it does limit the applicant pool quite a bit. I am aware of a number of students who meet this requirement (e.g., Clark, Flatiron, Granite, Stacy and Witbeck, Kiewit, Skanska, Walsh, Sellen, Mortenson, and more). If you have had a construction company internship, we will find you and get you to enter…so do it voluntarily first. 😉
  • The applicant must be in good academic standing. This means not on academic probation and no history of academic misconduct.
  • The applicant must fill out an application (shocking) here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7048791/2022-Beavers-Charitable-Trust-and-Clark-Construction-Group-Scholarships [survey.alchemer.com]. This application involves you describing and writing about your intern experience. So, it takes some time to complete.

DUE DATE: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH, 11:59 P.M. Continue reading

Tunnel Conference Scholarships – Apply by May 1, 2022

Dear Undergrads,

Time Sensitive: Student applications due May 1

The Underground Construction Association is sponsoring dozens of students to attend the annual tunnel design and construction conference, held this year in Philadelphia, June 19-22, 2022. The conference will take place in person with all appropriate Covid health and safety best practices in place.

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to learn about civil engineering underground – essentially the integration of geotechnical, structural and construction engineering. The conference program includes lots of presentations on current and recently completed underground projects including road, rail, transit, and water tunnels, urban excavations and space for everything underground. This sector of infrastructure engineering is growing rapidly. The conference will be littered with companies looking to hire full time employees and interns.

PSE&SSF is a non-profit corporation that supports students in engineering, science, and related technical fields.

Since 2001, we have awarded nearly 400 scholarships to high school and college students totaling nearly $600,000.

This year we plan to award over $80,000 in scholarships.

In the past, we have had great success in getting high quality applications from University of Washington students and would encourage students to apply again this year.  The application deadline is April 29, 2022.
