Officer Appointments and Duties

President

The president of the graduate club is responsible for coordinating and delegating social events and visit weekends, as well as maintaining the Registered Student Organization portal (keeping the club official and funded with the University of Washington).

Kayla Markuson (she/her) is a 3rd year analytical chemist in the Riley group.

Vice President

The vice president’s main job is coordinating food at social events, including ordering, laying out and grilling, as well as assisting the president.

Alison Wang (she/her) is a 2nd year inorganic chemist in the Xiao group. In her free time she like to rock climb, garden, and paddleboard!

Nicholas Giunto (he/him) is a 1st year inorganic chemist currently rotating through groups. He enjoys running, playing video games, and exploring Seattle.

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps track of the grad club budget for social event purchases, and submits reimbursements for food/drink purchases in a timely manner.

Hailey Akins (she/her) is a 3rd year inorganic chemist in the Velian group. She enjoys reality tv, trivia, and playing roller derby.

Secretary

The secretary of the grad club takes notes and writes up the minutes for meetings, as well as making, printing and posting flyers for social events.

Analise Walker (she/her) is a 1st year inorganic chemist currently rotating through groups. She enjoys baking, hiking, and hanging out with her cat.

 

Social Chair

Typically, there are two social chairs who are in charge of purchasing and setting up beverages at social events and visit weekends, as well as requesting alcohol permits for all events. (It is preferable for there to be a car and Costco membership between social chairs).

Beau Beshires (he/him) is a 3rd year organic chemist in the Lalic group.

Annabelle Hannah (she/her) is a 1st year inorganic student currently rotating through labs. In her free time she loves to watch movies, thrift, camp, hike, and all that jazz!

DJ

The DJ’s job is to make sure that grad club events are properly equipped with only the best music.

Current DJ (2025-2026)

Jason Kaff (he/him) is a second year organic/polymer chemist in the Golder group. He is a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Wizards (tragically), and enjoys attending concerts, thrifting and playing the piano.

 

Webmaster

The webmaster is in charge of posting social events on Instagram and other social media the grad club is using, as well as updating the website quarterly and annually (About, Photos, Living in Seattle, double checking links and resources).

Haden Wikar (he/him) is a 3rd year chemical biologist in the Maly group. He enjoys reading, chatting, and wearing sweatshirts.

GPSS Senators

The Graduate and Professional Student Senate member attends senate meetings and reports back to the graduate club in the form of the Senate Spot Blog, as well as helping obtain funding for certain events.

Alexandros Peltekis (he/him) is a 3rd year theoretical chemist in the Li Group.

Carmelita (she/her) is a second-year inorganic chemist in the Gamelin Group. She loves going Latin dancing, playing cello, and baking chocolatey treats.
