Officer Appointments and Duties

President

The president of the graduate club is responsible for coordinating and delegating social events and visit weekends, as well as maintaining the Registered Student Organization portal (keeping the club official and funded with the University of Washington).

Yarra Hassan (she/her) is a 2nd year theoretical chemist in the McCoy group.

Vice President

The vice president’s main job is coordinating food at social events, including ordering, laying out and grilling, as well as assisting the president.

Angelina Zhang (she/her) is a 2nd year chemical biologist in the Maly group.

Kayla Markuson is a 1st year analytical chemist in the Riley group.

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps track of the grad club budget for social event purchases, and submits reimbursements for food/drink purchases in a timely manner.

Juliette Majid is a 1st year computational chemist in the Pfaendtner group.

Secretary

The secretary of the grad club takes notes and writes up the minutes for meetings, as well as making, printing and posting flyers for social events.

Hailey Akins (she/her) is a 1st year inorganic chemist currently rotating through groups. She enjoys reality tv, trivia, and playing roller derby.

Haden Wikar (he/him) is a 1st year currently rotating through lab groups. He enjoys reading, chatting, and wearing sweatshirts.

Webmaster

The webmaster is in charge of posting social events on Facebook and any other social media the grad club is using, as well as updating the website quarterly and annually (About, Photos, Living in Seattle, double checking links and resources).

Maxwell Taub (he/him) is a 2nd year theoretical chemist in the Li group.

Social Chair

Typically, there are two social chairs who are in charge of purchasing and setting up beverages at social events and visit weekends, as well as requesting alcohol permits for all events. (It is preferable for there to be a car and Costco membership between social chairs).

Lucy Miller is a 1st year organic chemist currently rotating through groups.

GPSS Senators

The Graduate and Professional Student Senate member attends senate meetings and reports back to the graduate club in the form of the Senate Spot Blog, as well as helping obtain funding for certain events.

Ella Spurlock (she/her) is a 2nd year inorganic chemist in the Velian group.

Caleb Walton (he/him) is a 2nd year theoretical chemist in the Masiello group.

Beth Fawcett (she/they) is a 1st year masters student in the Bush group. She enjoys rockhounding and anything and everything nature.
