cQED Lab

Welcome to the Chen Quantum Engineering & Devices (cQED) Lab!

We are an experimental group at the University of Washington, dedicated to advancing Quantum Science and Engineering. We leverage both experimental and theoretical tools to explore solid-state platforms, including superconducting qubits, atomic-scale defects, and nanophononics.

Our research is interdisciplinary, bringing together expertise from quantum information, microwave engineering, nanofabrication, materials science, and cryogenics. Through a co-design process, we aim to

  • develop a profound understanding of quantum device physics and the associated materials challenges,
  • and innovate the next-generation of solid-state quantum devices for quantum computation, quantum sensing, and quantum communication.

cQED Lab has close collaborations with the Marcus Lab at UW.
