Huskies Place 3rd at NW CWPA Championships
This past weekend the Dawgs were in Corvallis for the Northwest CWPA Championships. Washington won their first game easily against Oregon St “B” 21-5. Next up, in the semi-final game the Huskies faced top seed Oregon. In a close game the whole way the Huskies took the lead early in the 4th quarter to go up 10-9. Unfortunately the Dawgs couldn’t muster up any other goals and Oregon scored 2 goals in the final three minutes to advance to the Championship game. Freshman Alex Rowland and Senior Henry Stemp each had 3 goals for Washington.
The third/fourth place game had the Huskies facing Boise St. University. In another closely played game Boise St scored early in the fourth quarter to go up 10-11. But the Huskies, scored 3 straight goals all by Alex Rowland to close out the game and capture 3rd place. Rowland finished the game with 7 goals. Daniel Betfarhad played great in goal for the Huskies in all 3 games. Daniel registered 24 saves over 3 games. Senior Lucas Ishizaki and Freshman JT Dugan played extremely well in all 3 games as well. The Huskies will look forward to next season in hopes of returning to Nationals next year. Until then they will look to participate in some more tournaments the rest of this school year.
