Neurodevelopmental Provider-Patient Call (NDV)
The Neurodevelopmental clinic (NDV) serves as a center for the comprehensive medical evaluation, coordinated consultation, diagnosis and collaborative management of children – birth to 21 years – with complex neurodevelopmental disabilities and congenital anomalies. Areas of particular focus children who experience including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and congenital brain malformations, developmental delay and disability, as well as tics / Tourette’s and related comorbidities (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). In each case, a multidisciplinary care model that involves the interaction of multiple expert providers and provides coordinated follow-up is essential.
Fellows are expected to take 3 weeks of provider-patient call every six months, beginning after the first half of their first year. Fellows respond to calls from community and hospital providers who have developmental questions, or questions about specific patients. Typically, in an average call week, fellows should expect to receive 2-4 pages from providers. There is not an inpatient consultation component to call. Fellows also respond to Epic questions and support from Neurodevelopmental Nursing team. All fellows are supported by an attending during their call weeks that they may contact at any time for support.
