Overview
The Seattle Children’s Program to Enhance Attention, Regulation, and Learning (PEARL) Clinic is a specialty program through the Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and led by Dr. Mark Stein. Trainees will learn three areas of mental and behavioral health: Cognition, learning, and neurodevelopment disorders and conditions (including learning differences and ADHD); Psychologic/Psychiatric disorders (including depression and anxiety); and Medication Management of ADHD with the use of stimulants.
The goal is to evaluate and provide a plan of care to families with patients with ADHD and other learning, attention, and behavior problems related to ADHD.
During this rotation, PEARL clinic will occur every Thursday afternoon.

What Trainees Will Do in Clinic
First Things First: Prior to coming to PEARL clinic, trainees are expected to review the following reading material:
- Diagnosis, Evaluation, and Treatment of ADHD in Children and Adolescents — AAP Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Medical and Neurological Mimics of ADHD — Book chapter by Dr. Mark Stein
- Optional: Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Complex ADHD — SDBP Clinical Practice Guidelines
12pm – 1pm: PEARL Case Conference
Trainees will first receive an email/meeting invite from either Ria Esquivel or Lacey Campbell to attend a care conference with many of the PEARL Clinic providers. You will receive this prior to Thursday.
1pm – 5pm: PEARL Didactic/Observation Sessions
Trainees will have the opportunity to observe and/or participate in both follow-up and new evaluations of patients coming into PEARL clinic with an interdisciplinary group of providers (both medical and psychological). Trainees will be guided through these activities on the day of PEARL clinic. Links to the didactic and observation sessions will be provided to you during the Case Conference from Lacey Campbell and the PEARL team.
