Welcome to the research hub of Ryan DeCarsky in the Sociology doctoral program at the University of Washington.

His research broadly focuses on studying how society is shaped by identity, community, and culture. He most often focuses on Queer / LGBTQ+ perspectives. 

Here you can find information about the research projects he oversees including a description of the research, the status of each project, and any relevant IRB* (Institutional Review Board) approvals or exemptions of research.

Deaf-Queer: Identity Formation and Community in the United States 

*IRB reviews research proposals and determines if they meet ethical standards of research as determined by the university.
