STUDENT CLUB

Operations & Supply Chain Management Club
OSCM CLUB
Newton_Thumbnail_SPR16
The OSCM Club held a discussion meeting on April 20, 2016 with guest speaker Ken Newton.  Mr. Newton is the Director of Supply Chain Operations at Alaska Airlines.
 SP16 trip

With a successful transition of leadership in March, the Operations & Supply Chain Management Club hardly skipped a beat as it dove into a busy Spring Quarter. The club hosted six unique events including discussions rooted in supply chain methodologies and best practices, led by executives from Alaska Airlines and Amazon. Nineteen OSCM students had the opportunity to see Amazon’s seamless operations in action during a field trip to the DuPont Amazon Fulfillment Center (pictured above). The Club also teamed up with the EY Center for Career Advancement to co-host a supply chain panel of top executives from companies recognized for supply chain excellence, including Boeing, Coca-Cola, PACCAR, and Starbucks.

OSCM Club truly went out with a bang this year with their final event—a Six Sigma workshop led by our own Operations Management professor at the Foster School, MICHAEL WAGNER. Professor Wagner emphasized the implications of variability in a supply chain and unpacked frameworks used in the industry to reduce variability and manage quality.

Finally, OSCM was recognized for their involvement in the Seattle community by being awarded a Certificate of Excellence at the 2016 Foster Spotlight Dinner.  During Week of Service, the OSCM Club teamed up with two other business clubs to donate 24 hours of service, prepare 800 meals, and deliver 500 meals with Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Chicken Soup Brigade.
