Our research program is focused on determining the immunologic factors that contribute to clinical outcomes in the setting of acute infection and lung injury. Our group’s major areas of interest include:
– The role of alveolar leukocyte subsets in acute respiratory failure
– The molecular epidemiology of critical illness syndromes (ARDS, sepsis, and trauma)
– The clinical and immunologic risk factors for chronic lung allograft dysfunction in lung transplant recipients
– The host immunologic responses associated with clinical outcomes after respiratory viral infection
The ultimate goal of these studies is to identify cellular and molecular targets that can be exploited for novel drug development.
