Research Team: Let’s get excited about EMAR’s new interface coming in spring quarter!

The continuation of V3’s interface has yielded some fruitful solutions

When I walked in the EMAR meeting room, I heard engaged discussions about the placement of forward and backward buttons from a psychological perspective. Which position would make sense for these buttons? These critical design and meticulous detail discussions among the research team members are positive signs of the future for V3.

Let’s get excited about the new changes EMAR will go through in spring quarter!

More Field Testing for EMAR

Next Wednesday, EMAR will travel to a local high-school, so ensuring the success of it is vital. To do so, we conducted a pilot testing with 7 Huskies at the HUB. We noticed that the slider for the stress level scale bar is sluggish for some users. A noncompliant touchscreen could be the issue if users do not press hard enough on the screen. Therefore, we will use a capacitive touchscreen on EMAR V3 to avoid this issue. Capacitive touchscreens do not rely on pressure, instead they use electrodes to sense fingers. It is similar to the screens on your smartphones.

A Farewell From Tech Team

You may wonder what tech team did this week? While waiting the new interface from research team we stayed productive of our end. We updated the new scripts, sounds files, and fixed minor bugs for V2. We also updated codes for V3 to mimic the interface of our current V2.

One of the questions EMAR will ask the testers. EMAR’s old interface with Pi.

This is the ninth week, which means  it’s our last post for this quarter. Looking back on this quarter, we are genuinely glad that we are moving forward with Raspberry Pi, and had a great wrap up with EMAR V2. We’re excited about development of EMAR V3 next quarter! See you all then.
