The 7th school joining the design challenge is Chief Leschi located in the Puyallup Valley, Chief Leschi is one of the largest Bureau of Indian Education (BIA) schools constructed in the nation and is operated by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.

The Design Challenge Showcase
The countdown begins for the Social Robot Design Challenge Showcase. Seven Puget Sound high school teams have been mentored by 15 UW students to prepare for this day. The teens have worked hard to prepare to show their robot design ideas on Saturday, March 24th. They’ve done research, built prototypes, and conducted tests using human centered design.

Foss Finalizes Prototypes for the Design Challenge

Twenty-seven high school students from Paula Yost’s Exploring Computer Science class at Henry Foss IB World School in Tacoma joined the UW Social Robot Design Challenge early in February. The class is part of the Tacoma School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program which teaches students real world skills in a work-based setting.

SAMI Sprints Through the Social Robot Design Challenge

SAMI (The Science and Math Institute) joined the Social Robot Design Challenge early on and sprinted through it at a breakneck pace. Local teacher Troy Hashagen is an alumni UW Tacoma with a Masters degree in Computer Science, and he is also well versed in the human centered design process.
