The Environmental Law Society at the University of Washington (“ELS”) is an intersectional environmental advocacy organization committed to providing a forum for members of the University of Washington School of Law community to discuss important local, national, and global environmental issues through a legal lens.
We (and now you!) are striving to create a space for individuals to engage with environmental challenges, think critically about legal and public policy solutions, prepare for careers in the environmental legal field, and build community around the common cause of planetary stewardship.
ELS acknowledges the Coast Salish peoples’ original ownership of the land on which the University of Washington sits, the traditional territory of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip, Duwamish, and Muckleshoot nations. ELS further acknowledges the state’s continuing obligation to fulfill promises made in the Treaty of Point Elliott.
