Simpson Center funding

We are very excited to announce that our request for Simpson Center funding to support an Evo-Hub History and Philosophy of Biology reading group has been granted. This will allow us to bring out two speakers in AY2526.

AY2526 Plan

Here is roughly what we envision:
  • Each (non-summer) term, the HPB group will read a book on the history and/or philosophy of evolution. We may also read classic texts in evolutionary theory, if there is desire.
  • In Fall and Winter, we will read recent books; then, at the end of the term, we will fly out the author for an in-person talk, as well as various opportunities for more informal discussion.
  • In Spring, since we don’t have funding for a third speaker, we will read a classic work in the philosophy of evolution.
