President
Harrison Hall (he/him/his) is a junior currently pursuing a double-major in Biology and Cinema & Media Studies. After getting his driver’s license in high school, Harrison started visiting the movie theater every weekend, which sparked his love for movies and the theatrical experience. He tries to see the best in every movie he watches and hopes that CMS will help him recognize the artistry that is present in even the worst of films. His favorite movie is James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster classic, Avatar. This is Harrison’s third year in Film Club and second in a leadership role.

Kendall Imus (she/her) is a junior currently pursuing a triple major in Cinema and Media Studies, History: Race, Gender, and Power, and Dance. She thinks her local theater, the Frida Cinema, is the best theater in the world. Her top four films are Pina, Cabaret, Children of Paradise, and Ashes and Diamonds. She watches around 300 new movies each year and hopes to keep that tradition alive forever. She is immersed in student filmmaking, and has a personal love of cinematography. This is Kendall’s third year in film club and first year as an officer.

Sofia Geherin (she/her) is a junior majoring in Anthropology (Human Evolutionary Biology). She has always had fun watching movies, but she really got into it when she was in high school, especially during the pandemic. She remembers watching The Shining for the first time and realizing how much artistry there was to be appreciated in cinema. Her top four films are: Trainspotting, Klute, Le Samouraï, Ratcatcher (1999). Other interests include: music (she is a part of student radio here at UW), and reading. This is Sofia’s third year in Film Club and first in a leadership role.

Joel Hyde (he/him) is a freshman who is undecided with his major. This is his second year being involved with film club. Some of his favorite movies are Fallen Angels, Spirited Away, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He’s from Shoreline Washington and when he’s not watching movies he loves listening to music.

Abbey Hall (she/her) has an intended major in Art History with a minor in Spanish. This is her second year in film club and some of her favorite movies are Emma, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Way Way Back, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Superbad. She also loves a good horror or action film, like Alien and Aliens, as well.

Spencer Malmberg (he/him) is an undergraduate who is a double major in Creative Writing + Cinema and Media Studies. This is his third year involved with writing for the film club. Some of his favorite movies are Everything Everywhere All At Once, Parasite, Empire Strikes Back, and Moonlight. He is from Yakima, Washington and his Letterboxd is SpeezerMovie.

Jocelyne Booth (she/her) is a chemical engineering major, and it’s her second year in film club. After watching Whiplash upon a friend’s recommendation, she started watching all kinds of movies. Her favorite film depends on the day, but her choices include Aliens, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, I Killed my Mother, and Columbus.

Rowan Tull is a freshman currently pursuing a double major in English and (possibly) Cinema & Media Studies. This is his first year in the UW film club, and some of his favorite films include Interstellar, Children of Men, The Departed, and Princess Mononoke. He loves writing, especially poetry and screenplays, but is currently dipping his toes into movie reviews.

Dani Tsang (she/her) is a sophomore pursuing a neuroscience major and music minor at UW. Some of her comfort movies include The Princess Bride, Big Hero 6, and Cinderella (2015). Her favorite Batman movie is The LEGO Batman Movie, her favorite Tarantino is Django Unchained, and her favorite foreign film is B for Busy. Outside of the UW Film Club, she is also the pianist for UW Stagenotes.

Max Marchand (he/him) is a sophomore majoring in Informatics. Some of his favorite films include A Serious Man, The Godfather and Do the Right Thing. Alex Olson (he/him/they) is a sophomore majoring in Political science at the UW. This is his first year with the film club, and his favorite movies include the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Galaxy Quest, Starship Troopers, and My Cousin Vinny. Lilah Shorey (they/he/she) is a sophomore majoring in Political Science. They became interested in film after seeing Kill Bill as a young teen. This is their first year in film club, and some of their favorite films include Evil Dead 2, MAD GOD, The Thing, and Apocalypse Now. Martin Du (he/him) is a senior majoring in Cinema & Media Studies. This is his second year with Film Club. He fell in love with movies after watching the Sam Raimi Spider-Man flicks. As the Spider-Man shill, all the Spider-Man movies are among his favorite films. In his spare time, Martin enjoys playing and writing analyses about video game storytelling.

Previous Leadership
Drew Favors (he/him) was a former club president serving from Fall 2023-Spring 2024. He studied Informatics and Cinema & Media Studies. He’s also from Dallas, Texas. He has always loved film, and he especially has a soft spot for animated film. He remembers one of his first experiences with film as a kid was Spirited Away. Ever since, he has been hopeful of exploring as many films and their genres as he can. You can catch him checking out the latest picks at Scarecrow video or playing kendama on Denny Field. He also has other interests that include Twitch, kendama design, gaming, and watching the Cowboys. Also, he is obsessed with his dogs so please ask him about them.
Luke Wilhelm was a former club president from Fall 2022-Spring 2024. He was an English major and he’s from California. He became obsessed with movies after watching Blade Runner, and has been writing film criticism since then. He also wrote, directed, and edited a rom-com short film.
Stephanie Chuang (she/her) was a former club president serving from Fall 2021-Spring 2022. She studied Computer Science as well as Cinema & Media Studies, with a minor in music. She got into movies after she watched the Oscars for the first time in eighth grade and has been obsessed ever since. Additionally, she enjoys musicals, solving crosswords, playing the flute, and Asian food.
PJ Knapke (he/him) was a former club president serving from Fall 2022-Spring 2023. He studied Economics as well as Cinema and Media Studies He fell in love with movies in high school after watching Wong Kar-Wai’s In the Mood for Love, and has been watching and writing about films ever since.
Jamie Housen is a former club president serving from Fall 2015-Spring 2018. He studied Entrepreneurship and Operations Management at the Foster School of Business. He’s an avid Seattle sports fan and when not watching movies closely follows United States politics. In addition to Film Club, he was heavily involved in TEDxUofW.
Greg Arietta is a former club president serving Fall 2016-Spring 2019. He studied Cinema & Media Studies and Finance at the Foster School of Business with a minor in Political Science. He’s wildly fascinated with movies, film construction, and cinema production. Greg tries to go to the theaters at least once a week and loves to talk about film at club meetings.
Louie Ghalib is a former film club president serving from Fall 2018-Winter 2019. He studied Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to to being a movie fan, Louie is also a huge audiophile. In his spare time you can find him watching movies or making music.
Sierra Stella is a former club president serving from Fall 2018-Winter 2019. She studied Creative Writing in the College of Arts and Sciences. She grew up loving movies, sparked by an obsession with The Wizard of Oz at approximately age three. She attended Film Jeopardy at Dawg Daze her freshman year and never looked back!
