Gavin Amer’s Top 10 Films of 2024

2024 was a very interesting year for film. We saw many box office-smashing sequels to popular movies from the past, but also smaller, independent films that were sometimes even better. This year I made great use of my AMC A-list membership and saw 61 new releases, many of which were in the theater. Narrowing this list down to my ten favorite movies was quite the challenge, as there were many that I felt deserved a spot. Review: ‘I’m Still Here’ is a Touching Portrait of a Frightened Family

Iconic Brazilian director Walter Salles’ newest movie, I’m Still Here, is a heartbreaking true story about a family living under Brazil’s ruthless military dictatorship in the 1970s. Anchored by an amazing performance by Fernanda Torres and through very personal and touching storytelling, I’m Still Here allows the viewer to feel the pain of a frightened family.

Review: ‘Juror #2’: A Compelling Courtroom Drama with a Twist

Legendary director and American icon Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Juror #2, is perhaps one of his most interesting works to date. Being primarily known for Westerns, Eastwood tries his hand at a courtroom drama, and the result is a simple yet captivating thriller with a very intriguing moral dilemma.
