“This is Ripley, last survivor of the podcast, signing off.” For Episode 23, we invite Film Club alumni Megan Bernovich onto the show to talk about the sci-fi and horror classic Alien (1979) by Ridley Scott. Megan’s favorite film of all time presents a rag-tag crew of space freighters being hunted by a bloodthirsty stowaway on their spaceship. An achievement in visual design and suspense, this film launched the career of both Scott and Sigourney Weaver with its simple yet highly effective story. In this episode, we discuss the turbulent production behind the film, the sexual allusions inherent in the film, and why its most memorable scenes have remained in our collective conscience for decades. Help us find Jonesy on episode 23 of the UW Film Club Podcast!
On this week’s episode: Megan Bernovich, Cynthia Li, and Greg Arietta.
