Save the date: Interdisciplinary Approaches in Fish Skeletal Biology Meeting

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 8.10.21 AMDo you like warm sun, sandy beaches, and fish skeletal biology? If so, you may be interested in attending the Interdisciplinary Approaches in Fish Skeletal Biology in Tavira, Portugal.

The IAFSB Conference promotes dialogue between experts from different disciplines that have a common interest in fish skeletal research and comparative skeletal biology. Participants come from disciplines such as Evolution and Development, Developmental Genomics and Proteomics, Biomedical Sciences and Regenerative Medicine, Ichthyology and Systematics, Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics, Aquaculture and Nutrition, and others.

The IAFSB Conference is a fantastic opportunity to discuss fish skeletal biology in a collegial and highly interactive environment. The next meeting will be April 18-20, 2018.

Welcome to Bruker microCT

logo_rgb_72dpi (trans bg)We are pleased to add Bruker microCT as a sponsor of the FishBone Workshop!

From the sponsor:
Bruker microCT formerly known as SkyScan develops and produces wide range of high-end microtomography instruments for life science, material research and in-vivo preclinical studies.

Have you ever seen images from a medical CT-scanner? Now, the same technique can be applied to your micro samples! SkyScan systems from Bruker microCT allow you to cut virtual sections or even fly through samples non-destructively. No preparation, coating or vacuum treatment is needed. Bruker microCT micro-tomography is available in a range of easy-to-use desktop instruments, which generate 3D images of your sample’s morphology and internal microstructure with resolution down to the sub-micron level. Software for visualization and analysis in 3D is included with all SkyScan systems.”

Welcome to Skretting

We are pleased to add Skretting as a sponsor of the FishBone Workshop!

“Skretting is a global leader in providing innovative and sustainable aquatic nutritional solutions and a supplier of Gemma Micro which provides complete nutrition for all life stages of Zebrafish (Danio rerio). Gemma Micro is formulated as a highly stable feed exhibiting excellent physical characteristic and documented to improve fecundity, eliminate Artemia and reduce feeding frequency to only one event per day.”

Welcome to R&D Aquatics

r and d logoTANK1 CROPWe are pleased to add R&D Aquatics as a sponsor of the FishBone Workshop!

From the Sponsor:
R&D Aquatics specializes in products that streamline the intersection between zebrafish research and husbandry. Our first product, the DC-96 is a compartmentalized tank that efficiently holds individual zebrafish while fin clips are processed or embryos are screened. With 24 individual compartments per tank in a four by six layout, identifying and isolating fish of interest has never been easier. The adjustable shelf stand allows the DC-96 to fit on most existing rack systems with little or no modification. These tanks are easy to assemble, use and clean and will save time and rack space. With four DC-96 tanks you can hold 96 isolated fish on a single shelf instead of an entire rack.

ASBMR_851x315WB

FishBone participants are encouraged to register for the ASBMR 2015 Annual Meeting. This meeting brings together over 5,000 scientists, engineers, and clinicians with interests in bone and mineral research. The meeting provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about cutting edge advances in a broad range of areas including skeletal genetics, biomechanics, development, and basic bone biology.

The ASBMR Abstract Center will re-open on Tuesday, July 7 for the submission of late-breaking abstracts. The late-breaking abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, July 29. Only abstracts detailing significant late-breaking results may be submitted for consideration. A limited number of these abstracts will be accepted for presentation.
