Dr. Megan O’Connor | Research Assistant Professor

 

Dr. Megan O’Connor

Dr. O’Connor joined the Fuller lab as a postdoctoral fellow in 2016. She graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Biology from the University of California Berkeley, Go Bears! She found her passion for studying infectious diseases at the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) while working under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Wong. She received a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth under the mentorship of Dr. William Green.

While in the Fuller lab she has been involved in projects relating to HIV, Zika virus (ZIKV), and SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and vaccine development. The goal of Dr. O’Connor’s research program is to develop novel models of viral infection and co-infections and to understand viral pathogenesis, evaluate immune responses, and develop vaccine and treatment strategies for emerging infectious diseases.

​She enjoys cooking, playing board games, running, hiking, and spending time with her family.
