Beacon Hill is bordered on the north by International District, on the east by Mount Baker, Columbia City, Brighton, and Rainier Beach, on the south by the King County International Airport, and on the west by the Industrial District and Georgetown. Beacon Hill is known for its diversity and inclusive community – 72.5% of Beacon Hill residents are Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and 61.1% of residents speak a language other than English at home.
With recent shifts in transportation, amenities and developments, the neighborhood has seen significant changes in housing prices and business-ownership, putting the area’s longtime residents at risk for displacement. The COVID-19 pandemic has further exasperated the need to support residents at risk, especially Black, Indigenous and People of Color residents and local business owners who have been hit hard by the economic downturn and continue to face rising costs in rent. We are excited to continue to explore this vibrant community.
