Located near Downtown Seattle, Chinatown-International District (C-ID) is a vibrant neighborhood with resilient Asian American communities. It is a place that celebrates the diverse culture and food as part of the Asian American heritage. We decided to focus our study of C-ID to the six blocks east of Interstate 5 highway in the general area of Little Saigon. Based on our research, we believed that this area would be the most susceptible to the effects of gentrification and pandemic in the next 3-5 years. Unlike the western side of the neighborhood, which is partly protected by its historic status, it is currently going through upzoning that can potentially change the neighborhood character and cause displacement. In the storymap, we examined the history of the neighborhood, the dynamics currently, and came up with recommendations for the community.
