American Heart Association: Predoctoral Fellowship

Proposal Deadline: September 7, 2022, 1 pm Pacific Time

  • For full-time graduate students in academic and health professions relating to cardiovascular health
  • Must seek research training with a mentor
  • Award includes a $26,353 stipend; $4,200 towards insurance; and $2,000 towards project support per year
  • Open to students with one of eleven citizenship designations, including DACA recipients, US citizens or permanent resident, F-1 Visa holders, and others

The purpose of the American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising students who are matriculated in pre-doctoral or clinical health professional degree training programs and who intend careers as scientists, physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists, or related careers aimed at improving global cardiovascular health.

AHA awards are open to the array of aspiring academic and health professionals. This includes but is not limited to all academic disciplines (biology, chemistry, mathematics, technology, physics, etc.) and all health-related professions (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, statisticians, nutritionists, etc.). Clinical, translational, population, behavioral, and basic scientists are encouraged to apply. AHA strongly encourages applications by women, underrepresented minorities in the sciences, and those who have experienced varied and non-traditional career trajectories.
