Hindi Language Predoctoral Instructor (all graduate students eligible)

The Department of Asian Languages and Literature is searching for applicants for a Predoctoral Instructor position for Hindi language classes for academic year 2023-2024 (September to June). Job duties include, but are not limited to, teaching Hindi language classes, preparing/grading tests, homework, and assignments, keeping student records, and holding office hours.

Requirements: Graduate students (at any level) accepted by or enrolled at the University of Washington are eligible to apply. Master’s degree students are eligible. Previous teaching experience is a plus and strong Hindi language skills are required. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.

If you are not an Asian Languages and Literature student, it’s important for you to make sure that the responsibilities of this position (daily schedule and workload) do not conflict with the academic requirements and workload of your graduate program. Please confirm (with your program advisor/staff if necessary) that you would be able to teach 9:30-10:20 Monday through Friday (every day), in addition to class prep, office hours, grading, and other responsibilities, up to a maximum average of 20 hours per week throughout the academic year.

Compensation: Salary and benefits are at the Predoctoral Teaching Associate II (PDTA II) level (see Notes below for more information). The salary is $3,078 per month for the nine months of the academic year. The position includes salary, a waiver of tuition and some fees, and benefits including health insurance.
