Graduate Staff Assistant- Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion is accepting applications for a Graduate Staff Assistant (GSA) for the appointment period of September 16, 2023 – June 15, 2024. Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Graduate Academic and Student Services, this position will function as a member of a three-person GSA team that has collective responsibility for several functions, including event planning, outreach, resource management, community research, social media maintenance, and survey distribution. Each team member will assume lead responsibility for a set of specific functions. This position is 50% FTE and works overall around 220 hours per quarter (read the full position description here).

Requirements:

  • A demonstrated awareness and understanding of concerns and issues experienced by underrepresented and historically excluded populations (i.e., BIPOC students, international students, first-generation students, LGBTQIA+ students, students with varying access needs, etc.
  • Must be comfortable meeting new people of diverse backgrounds, initiating conversations and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere both in the office and at office events.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to hold yourself and respective team members accountable to actionable plans.
  • Comfortable with adapting messaging and programming to current events and circumstances as
  • they occur throughout the academic year.
  • Registered for a minimum of 10 graduate credit hours per quarter.
  • Students admitted to a College of Education graduate program are preferred
