Pharmacoepidemiology Teaching Assistant Spring 2024

The Department of Pharmacy is seeking a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant (TA) for the cross-listed courses HEOR 520/EPI 533 – Pharmacoepidemiology in Spring 2024.

FTE: 50% FTE or 20 hours per week (220 hours per quarter)

Appointment Dates: 3/16/24 to 6/15/24

Course Description: Overview of pharmacoepidemiology including drug development and approval; application of epidemiologic methods to study drug safety and effectiveness; exploration of the interplay between research and public policy; introduction to resources for information about drugs; introduction to pharmacology principles pertinent to pharmacoepidemiology.

The course-masters for this course are Sascha Dublin, MD, PhD, Senior Investigator, Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute & Paige Wartko, PhD, MPH, Collaborative Scientist, Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute. This Spring quarter course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 AM – 11:50 AM.

Position Description:

(i) The primary emphasis for this role will be supporting UW Canvas, moderating Zoom sessions, and managing assignments

(ii) Attending class and supporting distance learning through Zoom and Canvas

(iii) Supporting course master in grading tests, reviewing assignments and monitoring participation as needed

Requirements: Current Health Sciences Masters or PhD student.

Salary & Benefits: Salary is commensurate with academic standing, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for a full tuition waiver and all benefits of UAW Academic Student Employees.
