David Dan Prize
Application Deadline: March 10, 2020
The Dan David Prize is an international award, endowed by the Dan David Foundation and headquartered at Tel Aviv University. The Prize recognizes and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research that cuts across traditional boundaries and paradigms. It aims to foster universal values of excellence, creativity, justice, democracy, and progress and to promote the scientific, technological and humanistic achievements that advance and improve our world. The Dan David Prize covers three time dimensions – Past, Present and Future – that represent realms of human achievement. Each year the International Board chooses one field within each time dimension.
The three fields for 2020 are:
- Cultural Preservation & Revival: The 2020 Dan David Prize in the Past Time Dimension will be awarded to an outstanding individual or organization who is making an ongoing, groundbreaking contribution to cultural preservation or revival through research, conservation efforts or direct activity in the field.
- Gender Equality: The 2020 Dan David Prize in the Present Time Dimension will be awarded to an outstanding individual or organization whose achievements are making a significant impact in the ongoing complex, multifaceted struggle for gender equality.
- Artificial Intelligence: The 2020 Dan David Prize for the Future Time Dimension in the field of Artificial Intelligence will be awarded to an outstanding individual or individuals who have made a groundbreaking, significant contribution to advancing Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of humanity and who continue to pioneer this field.
The Dan David Prize laureates annually donate twenty scholarships of US $15,000 each to outstanding doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers of exceptional promise in these selected fields for the current year. Ten scholarships are awarded to students at universities throughout the world and ten scholarships to students at Tel Aviv University.
