Meredith Redd

Acting Instructor

Meredith joined the HAMM lab in 2022 as an acting instructor in the Department of Bioengineering. Her broad research interests include understanding mechanisms of ischemia and acidosis using both stem cell and physiological models, with a focus on research translation and therapeutic development. She received her B.S in Biosystems Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2011. In 2017, she earned a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Washington where she studied vascular integration of engineered cardiac constructs as part of the Zheng and Murry labs. After graduate school, she moved to Brisbane, Australia to work at the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience as a postdoctoral fellow. There, she worked on the preclinical development of a peptide inhibitor of the acid sensing ion channel 1a to prevent ischemic injury to the heart. Now that she has returned to the US, she is excited to work with the HAMM lab again after a brief stint in the lab as a rotating graduate student many years ago. Outside of the lab, Meredith enjoys hiking and skiing and is thrilled to be back in the beautiful PNW
