Symposium on Designing and Orchestrating the Student Experience

Why this symposium?
UX professionals in higher education institutions are challenged to find and connect with peers who face the unique challenges and opportunities in higher education settings.
We’re hoping this symposium will provide us an opportunity to:
- Learn and share strategies and tactics unique to this problem space
- Delineate and strengthen higher ed UX community
- Inspire and support us in our common challenges
Who should attend?
We welcome senior UX and UX-adjacent professionals focused on meeting higher education student needs. We also invite you to also join us in attending UX Strat, a design strategy and innovation conference also held in Boulder Sept 11th-13th.
Agenda
Thursday Sept 14th, 5PM-8PM
- Networking over no-host drinks and dinner
Friday Sept 15th, 9AM-1PM (Finalized agenda coming, draft below)
- Opening presentation (50 mins) – 1 – 2 portal case studies (e.g. of a recent major delivery)
- Round robin or panel: UX in Higher Ed: Landscape, Opportunities, Challenges, Value (50 mins)
- Discussion sessions on topics like (2 x 35 mins):
- Sharing and reviewing existing portals and opportunities
- Continuous improvement using in-tool user data
- Balancing UX and product owner perspectives
- Integrating UX into Agile teams
- Partnering with students in the SDLC
- Making the student experience visible to the campus at large
- The role of portals in an overall campus communications strategy

This is an in-person event. Participation is free, with RSVP. You’ll be responsible for your own transportation, lodging and meals. Use the RVSP form to let us know you’re coming.
