Additive Manufacturing

The UW Student Technology Fee committee awarded the SIC funding to purchase 3D printers that are now available for student use. The space for these printers includes a large ventilation hood that enables students to print with a wide range of materials and a large fume hood that enables students to use organic solvents during post processing. This is the only 3D printing facility at the UW featuring adequate fume and particulate ventilation measures for the unrestricted printing of virtually any available 3D printing material.

Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D printers

  • (5) Fusion3 F410: Capable of printing with a large variety of filaments with a large 12″x 12″ print bed for larger designs.

Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D Printers

  • (2) Asiga Max Mini 405nm: 39µm pixel resolution with a 2″x1.25″ printing bed. Great for prototypes and parts where small size is important.
  • (1) Asiga MAX X27 UV: 35µm pixel resolution with a 2.65″x1.5″ printing bed. This is our most precise printer and our largest resign printer.

Other Equipment

  • (2) High-intensity UV Cure System with inert gas option. These are used as a post-processing step for our DLP printers.
