Space Science Computing Winter Academy

The University of Washington Bothell will host a Space Science Computing Winter Academy for STEM students for two weeks in January 2026. The academy will engage STEM students in space science computing training and applications including physics, astronomy, and climate science. Students will present space science topics at the Space Science Computing Winter Academy Student Symposium on Friday, January 16 at UW Bothell.

2026 program details

  • Heritage University students
    • $1400 stipend awarded to each student attending full-time for two weeks.
    • Housing and dining costs are paid by the program. Students are lodged in shared student housing with roommates from the program.
    • Up to $200 per student is available to assist with travel expenses.
  • Cascadia College and University of Washington students
    • $700 stipend awarded to each student attending half-time for two weeks.
    • Lunch provided by the program

2026 program schedule

  • January 4: Heritage students arrive at UW Bothell and move in to campus housing
  • January 5: first day of academy for all students
  • January 16: Space Science Computing Winter Academy Student Symposium
  • January 17: Heritage students move out of campus housing and depart UW Bothell
