BioE PhD Student

John (he/him) has a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  His lab projects involve seeking to understand the impacts of exogenous estrogens present in common cell culture media on mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), sex differences in the response of primary meniscal fibrochondrocytes to known growth factors such as TGFꞵ-3, and investigating dysregulation in discoid meniscus through transcriptomic sequencing. John is enthralled with cellular mechanisms in tissue engineering, particularly involving regenerative motifs and understanding how sex differences can lead to better understanding of these pathways.

In his personal time, John enjoys gaming (board, video, anything), cooking, singing, bothering his two cats (Phantom and Freckle), and going to the zoo (ask him about the AZA).

John’s favorite piece of glassware is the largest possible graduated cylinder, so he can make more ethanol for keeping things sterile in the cell culture room.
