Research on Financial Hardship & Critical Illness

Dr. Nita Khandelwal is a physician-scientist investigating financial hardship among critically ill patients and their families. Through this research, Dr. Khandelwal and her team hope to reduce financial hardship for future patients and families experiencing critical illness, and improve patient and family outcomes.

The FWHS and FOCUS research studies aim to advance our understanding of the factors that contribute to financial hardship, and the impact of financial hardship, following critical illness. The results of these studies will help us develop tools to improve care for patients and their families.
