As a full-time student, club officer and a part-time on campus employee at UW Bothell, I find myself spending a lot of my time at school.
But of course, even if you don’t spend that much time on campus, you most likely find yourself looking for any of the following…
- Food
- Study Space
- Calculators, Phone/Laptop Chargers, Computers!
- What to do on campus
Lucky for you, there are places at UWB that offer all of those.
Don’t forget to be on the lookout for the rest series coming soon!
Welcome to A Student’s Guide to UWB
Part One: Food
We’re students. We spend long hours studying, trying to figure out things like what in the heck dehydrohalogenation is and why we need to know it.
With all that brain power, we are bound to get hungry, maybe even borderline starving… or just bored (which can be often confused with being hungry.. *ahem* not that I would know or anything…).
That’s okay because here, at UWB, we have some options.
UWB Husky Pantry
We’re college students, we spend a lot of our money on tuition, books, and fees. Most times, that leaves very little room to buy food. But of course, it’s one of the most difficult things ever to study, and actually focus, on an empty stomach. Luckily, there’s a husky pantry for those times located at the Diversity Center in UW1 and at the Community Center by housing. They have some snacks you can get on the go, some quick things you can warm up (with a microwave across the hall), and the best part is, they don’t just carry food. They also supply extra clothes, toiletries, and just ICE (In Case of Emergency) needs. All you have to do is walk in, grab what you want and fill out the little slip saying what you took and what time (completely anonymous!), how you heard about it and what you think they should add! Want more information? Check out their website here or contact Rene Galindo (Community Center Location) at uwbhvcc@uw.edu and/or Ariana Chini (Diversity Center location) at achini@uw.edu.
Subway
If you’ve ever walked around campus, it’s evident that Subway might be our own “real restaurant,” however, it’s a pretty good option for a decent sized meal on the go. They have the option to dine-in or to-go. You can even order through the app!
Cafes: Food for Thought & Common Grounds
The best part about our cafe’s at school are the fact they are also great places to study or hangout. Where it be a nice snack, slice of pizza, light pastry, some coffee, bubble tea, red bull or anything your heart desires, the cafe’s have it all (also if you sneak into the book store attached to Food for Thought, they have some candies too!). The Common Grounds has hot water and a microwave too!
Food Trucks
Whether it’s a burger, a Gyro, some Poke or something else, Food Trucks provide a wide variety of foods throughout the quarter. Each day there’s anywhere from one to three food trucks throughout the day and they even change things up a bit each quarter, so looking forward to seeing what new ones pop up is always exciting.
I don’t know about you, but that Filipino one and the Poke one are my favorites so far.
Peach
Peach is a new thing that came to campus this quarter. It’s very similar to UberEats. It’s a super quick and easy way to order some good food! All you have to do are these four easy steps:
- Sign up here.
- Once you’re signed up, you’ll get a hand picked menu sent to you each day
- From there, you just have to reply to the message ordering what you want before 10:15 am.
- Lastly, your food should be waiting for you at school by 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM and you can pick it up at Common Grounds anytime before 5 PM!
