Prospective students

I will be recruiting a doctoral student to start in the interACTlab in 2025 (application deadline December 2024, program start Fall 2025).

I accept students in the Developmental Psychology program (please note, this is not a clinical program which would give you a training or a license to work with clients after your degree). Applicants must have experience in adolescent research to be competitive. Preference will be given to those candidates who are proficient in Spanish and preferably have experience working in Latin America. I will consider applications from international students. Before applying to my lab, please ensure that my most recent research work (Google Scholar) is a good fit for your interests.
I am looking for students who have research experience (for example, those who have done poster presentations, oral conference presentations, or have published research papers). I am also looking for students who have worked with adolescents and/or schools.
My work has two main avenues:
1) Partnering with schools to develop courses and interventions that promote digital citizenship and healthy digital habits
2) Gathering data on adolescent well-being, mental health and digital/social media use.
We currently work primarily with schools and students in Latin America (Perú and México). Before the pandemic, we got to do field work in these sites. In the past few years all of our work has been remote, but I am hopeful that in the future we will be able to resume travelling to these countries. We work with adolescents ages 10 to 19, with a special focus in the transition into adolescence/early adolescence (10 – 13 years of age).

In addition, I strongly recommend that students who have not had a lot of research experience in the past, consider working as a lab manager or research coordinator position for a couple of years before applying to PhDs.
