Lab member Dr. Philip A Kramer wins the Jim Baen Memorial Award for his SciFi short story “Feldspar”

Hosted by the National Space Society and Baen Books, the Jim Baen Memorial Short Story Award seeks SciFi stories set in the near future that positively portray human space exploration. Philip submitted “Feldspar,” a story about a Mars rover operator who finds himself in the unique and terrifying position to save the life of an astronaut. The story was chosen as the grand prize winner by Baen Books authors and editors. It will be published in June, and Philip will attend the International Space Development Conference in St. Louis in May, where he will formally accept the award. Our congratulations to Philip on this amazing achievement!
