New insights into SS-31 (elamipretide) protein interactions

A collaboration between the Bruce and Marcinek labs using chemical cross-linking with mass spectroscopy (XL-MS) developed in the Bruce lab at the UW identified 12 mitochondria proteins that directly interact with the mitochondrial targeted peptide SS-31 (aka elamipretide, Bendavia). This study, published in PNAS and summarized on Newswise, suggests new targets to test the mechanisms underlying improvement of mitochondrial function in aged mice with SS-31 treatment.
