Jacob Finney

Jacob Finney (he/him) earned his PhD for his work in the McCoy group in August of 2023. He is from Tacoma WA where he attended Pacific Lutheran University and worked with Dr. Dean Waldow to design and synthesize solid polymer electrolytes for use in lithium ion batteries. After receiving a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Physics from PLU, he came to UW in the fall of 2018. Jacob enjoys gaming, whether that’s tabletop gaming or video gaming, reading, writing, and playing guitar/piano.

Research Interests: Jacob is using Diffusion Monte Carlo to understand the complexities of molecules that undergo large amplitude motions such as water clusters.
