Greta Jacobson

Greta (she/her) is a second year PhD student in the McCoy group. She earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from Millikin University in Decatur, IL in May of 2022. During her time at Millikin, she participated in Greek life, dance, and music. She also participated in an NSF REU program at Montana State University in the summer of 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Martín Mosquera. Here, she discovered her passion for theoretical and computational chemistry. Outside of science, she operates a small crochet business, making clothing, stuffed animals, and other miscellaneous projects (Instagram @crochetgoodsbygreta). Greta is never seen without an iced coffee in hand, and is probably dehydrated.

Research Interests: Machine learning potential energy surfaces for increased efficiency in Diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) simulations
