Research Interests

Dr. Cai has three key areas of research focus:

  • The regulatory networks in innate immune response with regard to pattern recognition receptors, transcription factors, and cytokines/chemokines in pulmonary and extra-pulmonary injury and sepsis

  • Metabolic regulation of pathogen induced innate immunity response

  • The role of mitochondrial dependent signaling in innate immune responses during inflammation and tissue injury
