Workshop Description
In this 1.5 hour workshop, followed by a 1 hour celebration, the Designing Language Access group will present the concept of language justice as a new framework and approach to language access for communities who prefer languages other than English. We will describe how this framework can transform how an organization works with these communities. Through collaborative human-centered design activities, we will work together to imagine a future where all languages and cultures are included and celebrated, within and beyond our organizations, agencies, and institutions. The workshop will be followed by a celebration with food and music.
Sponsored by the University of Washington Tacoma through the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, the Strategic Initiative Fund, and the Office of Community Partnerships.
